For Dow, two wrestlers placed third and three ended up fourth to move on to regionals.
Qualifying for the Chargers were Austin Reim (152) and Dustin Fletcher (125) in third, and Ben Lamb (119), Hunter Clipper (160), and Brent Booth (215) in fourth.
“I was pleasantly surprised,” said Chargers’ coach Gary Hollingshead. “I was hopeful that we’d get some guys out (of districts). We had a couple of seniors fall short, but we did have two freshmen (Fletcher and Booth), one sophomore (Clipper), one junior (Reim), and one senior (Lamb), so across the board, I thought we did pretty well. I’d love to see all five qualify for state (finals), and if they bring their best, they all have it in them (to get to state).”
Dow senior Jeff Searle (152) did not qualify, but he picked up his 100th career win.
