FLINT — Stephanie Carras shot a 78 to lead Dow High to first place in Monday’s first Saginaw Valley League golf jamboree, part of the Flint Powers Invitational at the Flint Golf Club.
The Chargers scored 345 to beat nine other SVL schools and 19 schools overall.
Cranbrook Kingswood was second with 359, and Grand Blanc was third with 364. Midland High finished ninth with a score of 396, and Freeland was 12th with 407.
Alexis Carras was Dow’s second-best golfer at 79, while Alexie Flaminio shot 90, and Mina Fabiano shot 98. Dow’s top three scores were all good enough to earn all-tournament status.
Chargers’ coach Doug Bradford praised his team’s performance.
“Starting off with a win was very important. It will get us started with trying to win the league,” he said.
