Top-ranked Midland Dow tennis isn’t used to losing, even a single match.
The Chargers (16-1) dropped one match in a 7-1 victory over crosstown rival Midland Thursday, but coach Terry Schwartzkopf sees the loss as an opportunity to improve.
“This was overall a good day,” said Midland coach Jeff Babin. “Even in the loss, there was great tennis being played. We have a ways to go still, but I see that as a good sign.
“It means we haven’t peaked yet; we have a higher ceiling.”
Both teams compete in the Saginaw Valley League championship next week. Dow next plays at the Holly Invitational Saturday.
“Hopefully the timing is right and we can do some damage at the state tournament,” Schwartzkopf said. “That’s what these guys are working towards and today was a good step in that direction.”
