FLINT — Dow High improved to 3-2 in the Saginaw Valley League with wins over Saginaw High and host Flint Carman-Ainsworth on Wednesday.
The Chargers beat Saginaw 78-0, and Carman-Ainsworth 43-28.
Going 2-0 for Dow were Andrew Mrdutt (125 pounds), Sam Martin (130), Michael Moore (135), Brennan Doyle (140), Connor Moe (152), Hunter Clipper (160), Zach Peterson (171), Shane Oskvarek (189/215) and Brent Booth (215/285).
Booth’s third-period pin of his ranked Carman-Ainsworth opponent was a key to the Chargers beating the Cavaliers, said Dow coach Gary Hollingshead.
“He really dug deep and showed what he was made of,” said Hollingshead. “He’s doing great things for us, and the team’s starting to follow suit.”
Winning once for Dow were Jacob Sweet (103), Jeff Shields (112), Gage Rivard (119), Dustin Fletcher (145) and Devan Anzarut (189).
“We wrestled like a team today, which I always knew we could,” said Hollingshead. “I was impressed with our performance.”
Winning one junior varsity match apiece for Dow were John O’Connor (171) and Ty Hagen (125).
The Chargers (5-5, 3-2 SVL) travel to Midland High next Wednesday.
