Boys Junior Varsity Wrestling, Boys Varsity Wrestling · Dow wrestlers beat Flint Powers

DAVISON — Dow went 1-1 in a pair of nonleague wrestling matches Wednesday, beating Flint Powers 66-4 and falling to Division 1 third-ranked Davison 74-0.

Winning against Powers for Dow were Jacob Sweet (103 pounds), Jeff Shields (112), Sam Martin (130), Augie O’Dell (135), Brennan Doyle (140), Dustin Fletcher (145), Julian Maldonado (152), Hunter Clipper (160), Zach Peterson (171), Shane Oskvarek (189) and Brent Booth (215).

“We’re somewhere between a Powers team trying to get better and a Davison team that’s at the top,” said Dow coach Gary Hollingshead. “The guys understand that, and we will keep working hard to improve.”

O’Dell and Maldonado were brought up from the junior varsity team, a move that paid immediate dividends for both them and the team.

“We look forward to them continuing to grow,” said Hollingshead.

Dow travels to Shepherd for an individual tournament on Saturday.
